Reporting that the sudden death of the Lord President (Robert Blair) of the Scottish Courts of Justice has thrown everything into "great confusion," and regretting that this will prevent him from seeing her in Dumfries as she passes through to Ireland; sending Mrs. Scott's manuscript copy of his Vision of Don Roderick along with a copy of The Castle of Otranto that includes a preface by Scott.
